    Welcome to the website for the Sew Happy Carnation Quilt Guild. The Quilt Guild was formed in 1991 and currently has approximately 30 members from the surrounding Alliance, OH area.  The guild meets the fourth Monday of every month at 7 pm at the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church on Sawburg Avenue. Work days are scheduled for the second Monday of the month from September to May at 4 pm at the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church. Quilters from beginners to experienced are welcome to join or just visit.

The guild supports the Home of the Brave Program which is for the fallen soldiers of the State of Ohio, the Alliance Domestic Violence Shelter and numerous other charitable organizations.

Patricia Knoechel, nationally known quilter from California did a trunk show and quilting demonstration at St. Paul Lutheran Church, South Union Avenue, Alliance, Ohio on Monday, June 2, 2008 at 7 pm. The trunk show and demonstration open to the public was a great success. Patricia has been involved in quilting, quilt book publication and development of quilting rulers and tools since the early 1980's. She has worked closely with her sister, nationally know quilter Eleanor Burns, on various 'Quilt In A Day' books and also as a public relations person for both her company and Eleanor's company by traveling the country giving demonstrations. Her newest release "Victory Quilts" is about 1940s sampler quilts. Patricia demonstrated how the quilts are made and showed samples of the new fabric line created for the

District 4 will be hosting the 20th Anniversary of NEORQC on October 4, 2008 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, South Union Avenue, Alliance. A box lunch including chicken salad croissant, bag of chips, pickle, pasta salad and cookie will be served for lunch.  The cost is $7.50.  We will also serve beverages, a light "breakfast", and cake with lunch.  Reservations are required with payment by September 15.  Contact Kathy Wolf at 1732 Lilly Lane, Alliance, Ohio 44601or by phone at (330) 821-1477. NEORQC is sponsoring a quilt shop hop to 19 NEORQC member quilt shops.  You have until September 15 to visit the 19 shops and submit your passport.  The passport costs $5. and can be picked up at participating shops.  There is one bonus shop Yoders in Shipshewana, Indiana.  It not necessary to visit Indiana, but you do need to spend $10 in each shop to have your passport stamped.  Submit your completed passport for drawings for prizes. Come on out and have a ball!!! Our annual picnic will be held on Monday, June 23 at 6 pm at the Union Avenue Methodist Church.  Bring a covered dish to share.  Be prepared to have a lot of fun.

 

The finished product for the rag quilt challenge is due at the August 25 meeting. Minimum size is 15 X 15 and at least 9 patches.  It can be a pillow, table runner, lap quilt or full size quilt.  Fabric can be flannel, homespun or other fabric that is easily frayed.  Good Luck.  Questions?
